UTHM and PRAC Forge Strategic Partnership to Promote Work-at-Height and Rope Access Awareness in Higher Education

Batu Pahat, Johor - 24 April 2025 - Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) and Professional Rope Access Certification (PRAC) have formalised a collaborative initiative aimed at raising awareness and understanding work-at-height and rope access techniques among students and academic professionals.

The partnership marks a significant step forward in bridging the gap between academic learning and industrial safety practices, especially in high-risk sectors such as construction, maintenance, and infrastructure inspection.

Through this collaboration, UTHM students will be exposed to real-world rope access systems, safety standards, and industry-relevant practices, enhancing their readiness for workforce. PRAC will support the initiative by providing technical expertise, safety demonstrations, and training modules that align with international standards.

"This collaboration is timely and essential," said Ts. Mohd Faizal bin Esa, Industrial Fellow of the Department of Mechanical Technology, Faculty of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering. "As industries continue to demand high levels of safety and specialised skills, our students must be prepared not just academically, but also practically."

Meanwhile, Mr. Izzat Izzudin, PRAC Representative, expressed excitement about the partnership: "We are proud to work with UTHM to creating safer future professionals. By embedding rope access knowledge early, we can build a culture of safety from the ground up."

This collaboration reaffirs UTHM's commitment to producing competent graduates and PRAC's mission to elevate safety awareness and standards in the region.
